Idolatry is the neighbor of Witchcraft. Deep insight
Idolatry is different to an idol. It is now when the physical thing or the physicality of something by reason of your attention and worship of it alters your life. Idol is something very physical. Your phone! an idol but not idolatry until you give it so much attention that it becomes a form of worship. Now it is idolatry! You can’t live without it.
Witchcraft is the beconing of spirits to control people’s lives. Idols can control your future. More powerful than your faith. The moment Isacc became an idol in Abraham’s life, GOD asked him to sacrifice it. If you fail to sacrifice it you will lose control.
Witchcraft and idolatry can have controlling power.
Greek word for witchcraft is Pharmacea - Pharmacy! Being controlled by medicines. A spell. We break it with the GOSPEL! Anything that controls you is either idolatry or Witchcraft.
Colossians 3;25 Mortify your members- fornication, uncleanness inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, covetousness.
- Fornication is an sexual appetite you can’t control. Immorality. Sex is God’s immorality is not.
- Uncleanliness is dirty fan, unwashed dishes, wearing same clothes every day. Idols are not objects but behaviours.
- Inordinate affection: extended grief over loss of a loved one. Fantasy over another person. Infatuation with someone.
- Evil concupisence: Forbidden desires. Wanting another man’s wife. Distraction over tight jeans on a woman.
- Covetousness: Idolatry= excess greed for money. Let money flow without greed. line up 10 depressed people today. IF you give them money the depression goes away.
Now look at Idols instead of Idolatry. 1 John 5:21 Keep yourself from idols.
Objects- your car, grandmother’s couch, face/plastic surgery, Body building, suicide has an idol as cause. Videogames. Social Media.
Isaih 2:8 Worship the work of their own hands. Worship your house you built. Pride in your own stuff. Don’t give God credit. Self Self Self. Look at the life I built.
Acts 7:41 Made a calf and offered sacrifice to it. Rejoiced in the idol they had made. LIking and loving the thing that you did.
Acts 19:35 Worship the great goddess Diana is all that Ephesus was about. Paul came in and introduced the True God. They were controlled by the galaxy, planets. They thought a statue of Diana fell from Jupiter and worshipped it.
Satan often plays a subtle game. He uses something you can’t see. Remove Idolatry out. Nothing you can’t live without.
